THE LONG NARROW SLEEVES AND FULL SKIRT ARE THE SIMPLE form OF THIS SOFT ORGANIC HAND WOVEN KALA COTTON DRESS AND CAN BE WORN WITH THE TRADITIONAL TROUSERS kada - ber or salwar

This garment has been dyed in the indigo vat several times, the film we made is about the journey and process of the dress with Ashok Siju

The SEAM embroidery IS KNOWN AS MACHI - KADHO AND KHILVANI. These dresses ARE COMPLETELY HAND STITCHED BY THE tailor and THE elder women of the rabari tribe.

Each garment varies slightly as each one is hand cut, stitched and dyed, shades and imperfections are part of its intrinsic beauty. Each garment a collective expression of the many hands they passed through.

MADE WITH KALA COTTON, WHICH HAS BEEN indigenous to the region of KUTCH, INDUS VALLEY LANDS for more than 7 thousands years, also known as black cotton. With 10 cm of rain a year FALLING it is not water intensive, it is ALSO an uncertified indigenous cotton, grown without chemicals. The crop has indefinite seed usage each year unlike GMO crops that NOW dominate iNDIA who’s seeds are not re plantable.
