These are an adapted STYLE of TRADITIONAL KUTCH TROUSERS CALLED “kada - ber,” made with a low crotch and tie belt for COMFORT AND adjustment. They are kantha EMBROIDERED at the ankle with a mother of pearl button.. This is worn here with the traditional Kediya dress.

Each garment varies slightly as each one is hand cut, stitched and dyed, shades and imperfections are part of its intrinsic beauty. Each garment a collective expression of the many hands they passed through.

The SEAM embroidery IS KNOWN AS MACHI - KADHO AND KHILVANI. These trousers ARE 100% HAND STITCHED BY THE tailor and elder women of the rabari tribe who sew in community.

MADE WITH KALA COTTON, WHICH HAS BEEN indigenous to the region of KUTCH, INDUS VALLEY LANDS for more than 7 thousands years, also known as black cotton. With 10 cm of rain a year FALLING it is not water intensive, it is ALSO an uncertified indigenous cotton, grown without chemicals. The crop has indefinite seed usage each year unlike GMO crops that NOW dominate iNDIA who’s seeds are not re plantable.
