sadhana of clay

4 one to one online sessions - Guided Self Practice

Following my immersive clay workshops in Ibiza over the last 7 years, I felt called to bring my unique way of working into an online retreat for clay artists and seekers.

I offer a space in time — a gentle, grounded, and down-to-earth mentorship that supports artists on their journey. This space is designed to offer clarity and confidence, enhance creative expression, and develop ways of adapting and evolving your own clay practice. This is fully online, allowing you the peace & pace of your own environment, with freedom & use of your materials.

Sessions are held for 45 minutes at a time , so we can come together, with clay as the meeting place for our intentions : in our art space — kitchen , forests or beaches ( as long as you have wifi & clay ) I’d like to think it gives you the spaciousness to work as a static or nomadic artist .

- Guided self practice - for those at all stages in their journey with clay. Details below on the course structure, tools & clay, investment.

What is at the heart of our time together -

Our sessions together focus on strengthening enquiry and process, exploring the subtle qualities of clay, and our connection with ourselves through organic form, harnessing ancient wisdom & hand building.

Each session begins with the breath. Through this grounding light guided by the clay we move with rhythmic, intuitive ways using the same principles I use in my sculptural practice.

Making Inroads With Clay

. Cultivating confidence in vessel-making and holding form through ancient and intuitive hand to clay processes of coiling and pinching, feeling into the clay and learning its subtle qualities.

. The art of listening, sitting with the clay, hands to earth connection, freedom in expressiveness.

. Exploring surface, texture and embellishment as intrinsic qualities .

. Reflecting on and actively developing your own unique body of work.

“The journey of clay is the metamorphism of archaic memory, breathed into form.”

Sarah Jerath

“In the  formative stage or the  act of creation, as we  touch, pinch, and shape the clay, we  are engaging in a dialogue with our  inner world, allowing emotions to take form or alchemise “

The Alchemy of Clay: A Retreat Reflection

“An immersive, interactive and truly authentic artistic time awaits you when you have the opportunity and pleasure of coming alongside Sarah .

A welcome of such incredible warmth and positive energy greeted me, allowing me to feel immediately at ease and open to learning. Particularly from a ceramicist, whose coiled vessels and unique methods I have admired for many years.

My valuable time with Sarah can only be described as a nurturing ‘one to one’ retreat. She opened each morning with breath and yoga with meditative practices that allowed me to sink into the clay with ease.

Quietly observing without judgement, Sarah seamlessly guides and blends flexibility and adaptability to her sessions, dependant on how you are feeling, what you are curious about and what may be holding you back.

Sarah is incredibly generous of spirit. A whole new perspective opened up for me.

We all have our unique creative expression and i found a way to ‘surrender”, to witness an inner freedom with myself through clay. As well as gaining confidence in taking my work where i had never imagined.

Sarah mentored me kindly and gently on ways to work with natural, seasonal and foraged local materials, it was a gift.

After our time together i was on a creative high with a significantly altered outlook to apply to my everyday life and work for the future with increased confidence, self compassion and new skills that can only be learnt alongside a true artist.

This is so, so much more than a course….. “
